MEAT! Yes .... a workout philosophy.

Movement, Elevation, Articulation, and TIME!

I damn near thought this was forgotton, I had to endure a 4-6 hour workout to get it back in my mind.
Worked-out at home, visited the Pawn-shop, bought a few CD's, one Kung foo Panda DVD, no complaints.

Photos to share, My Life

So happy, my gym/airline travel bag set for Rhythmic Gymnastics Showed up. BTW if you are used to my YOUTUBE, this is what is actually behind me.

These are my tools, go get your own at the hardware store:
See in the USA we got to do it all alone.

Spare-Time Crafts:

Spare-Time Crafts, I haven't been able to wood-burn lately, but I'm still proud of them. I of course just did the burning and colouring, not the box cut-out or assembly. Can't do it all.

Brush Cleaning, then repair:

I recommend Palmolive. its a detergent and Palm Oil all in one. If that is not enough visit Jen From Head2Toe. BTW this is not all my brushes, just the ones I use. Be sure to keep your Makeup-brushes separate from your garage brushes.

Maintence Repeat, and more Self-Maintence:

Little discussion about E.l.f. brush repair. BTW I reccomend WHITE Gorilla Glue to reattach barrels to handles. Use the White handled concealer brush to spread a thin layer of glue on the metal barrel. Pre-soak the handle in room-temperature H2O. Read the directions, ventilate well.

Best of NYX Cosmetics 2018

Quick two hands full of my very top favourites from NYX for 2018. These are in no particular order, and all are fairly affordable. Top of the list the the Eye Jumbos. A sort of crayon-pencil that can be used on the waterline, as an eye-shadow base, or as a stand alone eye-shadow. These are generally 4.50USD each, but NYX often has 20-30% off sales on them.

I have about 10 of the 17 colours available. My top three are; "Cottage Cheese" a shimmery opaque white, amazing on waterline or in inner corners of eyes, "Pure Gold" this shade is wonderfully pigmented and perfect as a stand alone shadow, and "French Fries" the world's best base for a cool-toned smokey eye. These travel really well, non-messy and take up little space, but buying them is addictive, get one or two and shortly thereafter you will have a collection.

An other great pencil product is the Wonder Pencil. I have this in "Light." It is smooth and creamy and goes really great on the waterline for a more natural or neutral look. Its also tauted as a spot concealer and reverse lipstick liner. I've never used it for those thing so I cannot speak to them.

The next item is a bit of a splurge, it is normally 20.00USD, the Perfect Filter Palette in "Olive You." I got mine on sale for only 10.00USD. It contains 10 coordinated shades, at 1.77grams each, so the per unit cost is not bad. I use the greens and gold the most. But its wonderful as an understated pop-of-colour palette. It also blends well with a smokey eye palette to add some colour. The shades are half shimmer, half matte.

Next up, you need somewhere to put this makeup. I've not heard great things about NYX's makeup cases, but the 15.00USD "Large Zipper Case" is well worth it. I use this for travel, sometimes for makeup, and other times just for toiletries and sunblock. It is the perfect size, each side unzips to expose storage for either brushes or loose items. BOTH sides have a mesh zipper compartment to keep smaller items contained, yet visible.

Last is NYX's "Worth the Hype" waterproof mascara, and it is, worth the hype. I've even slept in it and woke up looking fine. Waterproof, non-tubing, and easy to remove even with plain soap and water or face-wash.

The Enlistment vs Commission Barricade.

Now if you have a 4 year degree everyone except your friends, will push you to go commissioned.
Few TIPS, trust yourself and personality. NOT YOUR DEGREE.
I encourage Enlistment *wink*, 👿👿
Kindly REMEMBER it is always possible to Green-to-Gold Later.
Remember Enlistment means:
Choosing your MOS and a written contract, but sometimes we are all janitors.
     Less of a paycheck.
But you may get a sign on bonus.

Now IF, and ONLY IF, you have a useful (at present) degree, you MIGHT be offered to start at E-2. *shh do not make anyone jealous*

P.S. This is just based on Experience. You are free to have your own.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Haul - Clubs & Hoop Tape

I've been looking forward to receiving this parcel in the mail for a long time. I've reached a pretty good point in my apparatus handling with ball, rope, and hoop. I have wanted to get a set of clubs. As a recreational Rhythmic Gymnast, that wants the best eq, I shop at Action Rhythmics - the best RG equipment in the U.S.A.. The first thing I got there was my Ball and Rope. Which is the two apparatus beginners should start with.

Second I got my hoop. Its a Venturelli, I love it but in my haste I forgot the hoop tape when I first ordered it. I seem to have a natural talent for hoop-work. HAPPY TIME. It really strengthens the wrist as a bonus, and is my favourite event so far. The pink and silver hoop is a cheap hoop from a toy-store to use outdoors.

This occasion, I finally got around to getting my hoop tape, and a set of Junior Clubs. I wish I had a coach or experienced gymnast to help me tape the hoop. I am scared to ruin it. You might ask "Why Junior Clubs?" First, clubs are recommended after hoop, and before tackling ribbon. Second I purchased Junior ones because I am small, and because of a long history of ballet I tend to use curved rather than stick-straight arms. I do not want to clobber myself in the face while doing my first mills. 😀

Many people might think its crazy to be doing apparatus handling and basic dance moves at my age. BUT dance and movement is for any age. It is a free-expression of who we are, and its good for a person. It's also improved my hand/eye/body coordination 100 fold.

Waiting Game...

I'm getting a "new" copy of Starcraft Brood Wars soon! I can hardly wait. Nothing else de-stresses me like a good game of playing zerg vs humans. After a long hard day working, studying, and doing PT I need a stress reliever.
I'm also getting as a gift, a C++ Manual, and a Tarot Deck. What a combination. Got those today! I mean like DUH, what can I do but NOOP.

SGI-USA online Haul with Photos

We all know, it is not about stuff, but stuff is fun! 😈 This is my first order from SGI-USA's online bookstore. Overall I was pleased with my shopping experience. The order arrived USPS which for me is the most convenient method of shipment. I ripped into the box as soon as it arrived, which is uncharacteristic for me.

Everything was packaged very well, but the box was a bit beat-up. Sometimes that just happens on the conveyor belts. Here is everything, cannot wait to open that brown paper package, and the black tee-shirt.

First up, prayer beads and a bead case. I wanted an extra set on hand for when I have guests that want to chant with me, or just listen. The beads are actually a "youth" sized set, which is a bit smaller, therefore cheaper and nice to travel with. I tried to pick something neutral, but I admit the bunnies on the bead case are kinda cute.

I got a 50,000 Lions of Justice tee-shirt. Which commemorates the 2018 gathering of 50,000 youth in 9 cities across America. This is my first SGI shirt, I hope it sparks some conversations.

In the brown paper package was a copy of the Liturgy (chanting and prayers) for a guest. Also I got a copy of President Ikeada's "Victorious Teen." While I am no longer a teen, I am in the middle of going back to school and transitioning my career. I've only dug in a few pages but so far the book enforces self-esteem and character from within, to create an unshakable self.

Lastly a flag. I love flags in general, pomp, circumstance. This is just one more for my collection.

Waterfall Engineering, Legacy Hardware/Software, and the impact on Innovation.

Once apon a time, Waterfall Engineering began with an idea, then over the last 100 years it became  the continual refinement of that initial idea, while maintaining the maximum amount of proven hardware and/or software.

The most important thing to remember during Waterfall Engineering is that initial idea. Without that you and your team are:

          01. Polishing a turd.
          02. Putting extraneous features and functions onto a dedicated item. Which is not where they belong.
          03. Ruining something that is functional.

What's good about the waterfall approach?

          01. It can save money if you avoid #02 above.
          02. It can result in insanely reliable equipment.

Whats bad?

          01. It can hamper innovation at the start by neglecting new ideas as a conceptual start.
          02. It can result in dinosaur gear.

So you want to join the Armed Forces... Part 1

First talk to everyone in your network who has served, especially volunteers. Draftees sometimes have a very different experience and perspective.

Keep an open mind about what Branch, MOS, and Unit you join. You are offering your services to Uncle Sam, he will decide where you go.

Take a personal inventory of what you want out of your terms of service. You will want to do this before visiting a recruiter. Otherwise they can convince you of just about anything.

Keep your nose clean. Maintain your grades, graduate high school, or finish the semester of collage.

Keep your credit report clean. Check your 3 credit reports for suspicious entries and write these down. A good recruiter will help you clear any suspicious entries up.

Are you already part of the work-force, but have no credit? Then get a store credit card with a modest limit you can pay-on-time. This is the easiest way to start your credit.

Make sure family member's, that are not your legal spouse, are not using your credit. Having a non-spouse with a card in your name is a big, huge, no-no.

Pay or settle all debts that legitimately belong to you. You want this all done before background checks.

Purge/Declutter your belongings and possessions. Consider where you will store your civilian property during training, and your present level of commitment to join. Less stuff means, less headache.

Note, do not have no legal residence and put your stuff into cold storage for training. This royaly screws things up.

Read up on grooming and appearance Reqs while you declutter. it will give you a clue about things you might not need.  Always try to donate, sell, or gift goods rather than trash them. If you cannot declutter your goods, you will not survive the lifestyle.

Have an initial visit with a branch specific recruiter. While in the recruitment office, listen to everyone there. Listen to the enlisted more than civilian contractors. Don't get brainwashed yet. Keep your personal inventory in mind, gather information, make your decisions at home.

NYX Sample Programm - August 2018

Worth the Hype Waterproof Mascara in "Black"
A very long-wearing, smudge-free, waterproof mascara. It is also very black. Perfect for a natural look, or with falsies. I like that it is not tubing. Washes off easily by massaging a bit of face oil on the lashes. I wore this for 17 hours straight and have no complaints.

Suede Matte Lipstick in "Brunch Me"
Seriously office appropriate shade. I would even wear this in court. "Brunch Me" is matte, mid-tone, nudy-pink, but not too pink. The feel on the lips is velvety. It does not go on to thick so it is not artificial or "made-up" looking.

Epic Ink Liner in "Black"
I am horrid with pen liners, my proficiencies lie in liquid or pencil, so I am not the best person to review this Ink Liner. It is very black, but I find it a bit thin-liquidy and hard to control. It does, however, go on without tugging in the least.

Bio of a Vietnam Vet by A.E. Roberts

...written 01 Sept 2018

My Father
Jack Dale Roberts
by A.E. Roberts

My father was born in 1944, THE war was still on. Francis E. Roberts was his mother. I am not completely sure how he grew up, but I have a few tales to tell. :)

First off if you had to hire an actor to play him, it would of course be Charlie Sheen. His band of friends; Dave Hammerick, Ronnie Cubit, and Sean Penn. That gets us started into our journey.

First off he grew up in the Mid-Atlantic, America, Home of the Free, between D.C. and Fairfax. Looks like a great place for a youth to me.

He had great friends by age 5, and he managed to hold onto them throughout his Life. (I am a bit jealous of that.)

Despite having a loving mother, and a compassionate, hardworking father, he had no TV. Absolutely no TV in the house. That was probably for the best. They don't call it an idiot box for nothing.

Despite growing up in a presbyterian nuclear family. He went to Catholic school. Sometimes it's about the quality of an education, other times the cards just land that way.

He did pretty good in school, maybe even straight A's. The Teachers had a lot of trust in him. But he kept trying to un-button their blouses with his mind. Oh well that is how young boys are.

For his high school years 7th-12th, he went to an other private catholic school. I learnt most of what I learnt about that from his school year books. by those years mostly male monks taught, and experience I've never had personally.

He tried to work, his way through collage at Bechtel and George Washington University. But he only completed a year or two before joining to Family Company. That is when he started calling the "old man," they OLD MAN. with a presbyterian boss, I do not blame him.

Then he went to Vietnam, which I know tons about, thanks to all his sharing of experiences, perspectives, and photo-slides.

Then sometimes, I believe 1964 my Dad was drafted by the Selective Services. Not to bad for a 20 year old to get out of the house and go to Basic Training. Then a Tour of Duty OVERSEAS in the Vietnam JUNGLE, which is something I've wanted to experience myself.

Originally my Father was selected as an 88D, Combat Driver. He was too smart for that, they die a lot. So he went to the Signal-Shack and knocked on the door. He was then accepted, as a 25U, Signal Corps. That was more to his talents. Then he was attached to the Air Force.

The Bonus of being detached to the Chair Farce is you get to live near and Improvisational Base. His life in Vietnam included very few work days, 2-3 days per month. Only worked when the radios went out. Not a bad gig.

He spent most of his off time lounging in the creek on a floatie, or playing house in his 10' by 10' tent. That is the Life.

He had a lot of fun on the Government's Dime. He did spend sometime avoiding CHARLIE, and trying to comprehend the Buddhist. But I am sure he Mistranslated a word once in a while.

His one combat mission went as follows:

FIRST OFF HE WAS CALLED TO THE RADIO TOWER. UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY FOR ONE USED TO LOUNGING IN THE RIVER OR, FLYING AROUND IN CIRCLES.
THE MARINES WHERE OUT TO LUNCH, SO THE PROTECTIVE FORCES WHERE DOWN. HE WAS IN THE TOWER WITH A FEW OTHER MATES.
WHEN THE VIET-CONG ATTACKED ALL THE OTHER CORPS MEN (SIGNAL CORPS) SCRAMBLED FOR THEIR CAMERAS. BUT THE TOWER WAS UNDER SIEGE AND ATTACK. JACK WAS THE ONLY ONE SMART ENOUGH TO GRAB AN M1A RIFLE. THE REST I KNOW, EVERYONE SURVIVED, EVEN THE ENEMY. AFTER-ALL THEY ARE JUST PEOPLE TOO.

END COMBAT SEQUENCE

My Return to a Goth Look - Elf Nyx Skin79

Here is an image of my Yaheetech Makeup Case all opened up. Don't worry its all affordable stuff.

And here is an image of my look all ready to go. It's not the easiest look but it is fun to do.

It includes:
Neutrogena Night Repair (Retinol) as a Primer.
Skin79 Super+ BB cream from Korea.
     Elf Foundation Adjuster in Light.
     Elf Mixing Palette.
     Elf HD powder in Sheer.
     Elf Undereye powder.
     Elf Eye Primer (Shadow Lock).
     LAC 6-pan eyeshadow in Lucky.
Nyx Eye Jumbo in Cottage Cheese.
Nyx Eye Jumbo in French Fries.
Nyx Eye Jumbo in Pure Gold.
     Vanilla Lip Balm.
     Elf Lipstick in Blackout.

I sincerely wish I could post a video or pictures of the look in progress. However, I do not have much of a support crew for those sort of things. See its possible to do Goth Looks even without eyeliner or Mascara. Enjoy Life, and have fun with Makeup.

My Makeup Collection

This is my current makeup collection. I love makeup as an accessible artistic expression. As you can see its all affordable brands, mostly Elf, Nyx, Wet n' Wild, and few Jordana and Maybelline items. I tried to organize the photo into a face, eyes, and lips areas.

Let's start with the base face (skin) makeup. I have pretty good skin, so I skip primer. The one primer I did try just felt gross, and added nothing to my look. The silver canister is Skin79's Super+ BB cream. I used to use Vip-Gold, and this seems to be the replacement. Its has SPF and skin-whitening properties, which I love. It only comes in one shade though, a sort off pale-cool-pinkish-grey. I like it cause it hides and corrects my tan in the Summer.

For a finishing powder I use Elf's HD powder in "Sheer". I find it works perfectly with the BB cream. I only wish it covered my tan a bit more, and had some SPF of its own. The two-smaller powders, Nyx HD finishing powder in "Banana" and Elf's HD under-eye powder, I use to set my under-eye concealer. I do not always wear under-eye concealer but when I do I'll will grab one of these. They are equally good, but the Nyx powder is pressed and travels much better. The Elf tube is their Shadow Lock in "Sheer" its an excellent inexpensive lid primer. I use it even on mascara only days. Lastly, the Nyx tube is HD photogenic concealer in "Light," which i use as my universal concealer, under-eyes and spots. It is a pale-cool shade.

Below we have blushes and a contour powder. The two palettes are Elf. The silver compact is Jordana, and the black compact is LA Colors.

The Elf palettes are a god-send for any pale, cool-toned person. These are my goto blush and contour, the contour palette even includes a subtle bronzer. I do not use the yellowish highlight shade in the contour palette however, I have 3 favourite highlighters I love coming up next.

Here they are: Elf's baked highlighter in "Moonlight Pearls", Nyx's I love you so Mochi in "Arcade Glam", and Wet n' Wild's hello halo in "Halographic." I use them all, I would have a hard time picking favourites from this group, but my everyday goto has to be the I love you so Mochi "yellow" toned highlighter. I am a bit of a highlighter junkie on days I am not going pale Goth. It makes the face so much more 3D.

Now, onto the eye-makeup. I warn you all I have too much eye-makeup for my own good. Let's start with the Nyx Jumbos collection since they are such a Youtube favourite.

Left to right is: Black Bean, French Fries, Yogurt, Oyster, Cottage Cheese, and Milk. I have mixed reviews of these. Black Bean smudges badly on me, so I just never use it. I have had no success with it on the upper lid or water-line. French Fries I love, I wear this with some black eye-liner over it as a complete look. Perfectly Goth, yet perfectly everyday. Yogurt is darker than I expected. I bought it for my water-line but just have not tried it out yet. Oyster would probably look gorgeous on darker-skin, but on my pale-cool skin it just vanishes, on the water-line, but it makes a nice sticky base for a smokey purple eye. OMG Cottage Cheese has to be my favourite, I wear this on the water-line often, and use it to highlight the inner-corners of my eyes. Lastly Milk, I use this on my water-line when I do not want shimmer. Overall these are a great product. Fun to collect.

Now onto the eye/guy liner. My collection is pretty small, but I have tried a lot of inexpensive eye/guy liners in the past and these are my best ones, or just the ones I have at the moment.

First off on the left is Maybelline's liquid liner in "Onyx." I received this as a gift from a friend. It is not bad. The felt-tip "brush" is way more precise than the old-cheap included brushes. It dries to a nice matte finish but could be blacker. Next is Elf's creme eye/guy liner in "Black." Its not bad, but cremes/gels take practice to develop skill, "Do not be frustrated!" I've had this one past the expiration date so I need to throw it away.

Then the Wet n' Wild pencils, these are only $0.99 where I am, and the dark ones are not bad at all. I use the black almost daily. The olive for special looks. The white however is too stiff to use on the water line. Its an interesting look to use it on the lid however. The last three, on the right, are a Nyx wonder pencil in "Light," which is not bad for they water-line. A Jordana auto-liner in "Black" and a Maybelline auto-liner in "Black". The Maybelline liner is far better then the Jordana: blacker, and more smudge resistant. Next, lashes and brows...

On the left is Kiss lash glue, so far I find it the best lash glue. BUT be careful where you buy it. In the US is should be less than $4.50. I have seen it for prices as high as $11.00. Kmart is the best $2.99 last time I checked. I did not photo my lashes as I cannot get the hang of applying them. Practice makes perfect, but my patience is wore-out, and I have plenty of lashes even for stage.

Mascaras first in the black tube is Nyx Worth the Hype mascara.I have not opened this yet. I received it as a free-gift with a purchase. Its has cute packaging. In the middle, the pink and green is Maybelline's Great Lash Waterproof in "Very Black." I use this often and have used it for years. You have to be speedy and add coats BEFORE the previous coat dries. It adds length without much volume, which is good for a natural look. The third mascara is Elf's 3-in-1 mascara. I recently got this and am loving it. Its a tubing mascara and does not budge til you wash it off. What I like best is with my "split-shift work schedule" it holds up to a nap. Everybody needs naps.

At the bottom of the photo we have, Elf's brow gel in "Clear." This is a must for my brows. It cements them in place nicely and washes off very easily. I just wish it came in a bigger tube. I am forever ordering this product.

Onto the eye-shadow, I'll try to keep comments brief. First my Elf eye-shadows. My favourite is the "Everyday Smokey" palette. You can do anything with this from a natural look to a full-on smoked out eye.

Next, all other eye-shadow brands, my favourites out of this collection are: Wet n' Wild's "Petal Pusher" (I love a purple sparkly and smoked out eye.),  Nyx's "Dank" and "Kush" I use these for an "I dream of Jeanie" look, with white at the outer corner of the eye.

Finally my lippies. Here are my lipsticks, lip creams and lip glosses. I do not have much of an opinion about lip stick. I buy anything $1.00 to $3.00 and have never had a failure. The brands I have been using are: Wet n' Wild, Jordana, and LA Colors. No complaints about any of them. Then pictured is also 3 NYX round lip sticks in Circe, Elektra, and Paris. I hate to admit I have not tried these yet, the plastic wrapper is still on them.

Then on the side is my lip glosses. My favourites are any LA Colors gloss, so worth the price, and Elf's lip lacquer. I only have "Burgandy" and "Clear" but its a non-sticky, highly pigmented gloss for only $2.00!

Lastly, I promise, is lip pencil and lip care. All my lip pencils presently are NYX. I use them all either to line the lips, or under clear gloss. They are creamy and long wearing.

The two lip balms are Chapstick "mix-stixs" and Bagder's lip balm in Madagascar Vanilla. I adore the Bagder lip balm, its all organic and very effective. At the bottom of the photo is Elf's lip exfoliator in "Coconut." I use this once a week. It taste delicious.

Please feel free to comment, share your opinions, ask questions.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Hoop NEW HAUL!

I just received a new Ventureli Hoop. In my excitement, I forgot to order the Hoop Tape! Here is a photo of it unpacked. I was so puzzled when a Lowe's (it is a Hardware Store) box showed up at my door.

When I first opened it I could not believe my eyes. MY OWN FIG APPROVED HOOP. I am hoping some apparatus handling will help me loose weight without putting too much stress on my feet.

Instantly I picked up the hoop and started doing rotations around my hands and arms. Each side, left and right, over head. a few small tosses. It was like I was made to do this.

Right now I am super-fat, but strong. A medication I am on is causing the weight problem. So I am working on my excersize and diet, but the medication has to go. The weight gain just is not worth it.

My First NYX Haul

I got a bunch of new makeup recently.  Elf, Nyx, and Wallgreen's. I am really happy with the Elf and Nyx, but Walgreens was a bit of a dud. I only got 3 items there, two Covergirl eyeshadow quads, and lash glue. I was shocked to find the last glue was 3 times the cost of Kmart, so I won't be getting that at Walgreen's anymore.

The Nyx order is fresh on my mind, it just arrived a few days ago via UPS. Inside the box was well packed with protective bubble wrap and Nyx-logo tissue paper. The makeup inside was in an adorable drawstring lace bag. I got 5 pencil, two powder, and one cream product. The cream product was Nyx HD concealer in "light". I bought this for spot concealing, but have been using it under my eyes. I have never used an under eye concealer before and I am super happy with this one. I just wish the tube was bigger.

I have not tried all my pencils yet, but the two I have are the Slim Lip Pencil in "Rose" and Wonder Pencil in "light". The lip pencil in "Rose" matches my natural colour well and is great for under lip gloss. It's super creamy for a pencil and made in Germany. The Wonder Pencil is also super creamy. I have been using it to line my water line. It is a nice alternative to white.

I also got the HD mini powder in "Banana" Definitely a 5 star item.  I've been using this to set the under eye concealer, it does a good job with no creasing, and even though I am very cool-toned it looks good. Final item is the "I love you so Mochi" highlight pallatte. Its a huge splurge for me to spend on one item, but the price per gram of product is on target. I got the cool-toned highlighter in "Arcade Glam". My favourite so far is the blueish-toned one, which gives a nice glow on my pale skin.

To wrap things up the package also came with a sheet of stickers! I'm very happy overall with no complaints.
